Hey y’all! Today I thought I’d show you guys the products I use everyday on my face. I have been sticking to this makeup routine for a while now and I’ll probably continue to stick to it until I run out of product haha. Anyways, without further ado, here it is:
Step 1: MOISTURIZER
After washing my face and patting it dry with a towel, I warm one pump of moisturizer in my hands and then apply it to my face and neck. I love this one by Neutrogena because it smells amazing and is oil-free. I highly recommend this one for those of you with oily skin. However, whichever moisturizer you choose to use, always get one with a pump for easier access and better hygiene.
Step 2: PRIMER
Next, I squeeze a tiny amount of primer on the tip of my fingers and apply it to the oily areas of my face which are my t-zone, nose, and chin. If you have oily skin like I do, primer is a must! It helps to smooth out your pores and minimize oil throughout the day. Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser by Maybelline is my favourite because not only does it work just as well as Benefit’s POREfessional face primer, but it’s a fraction of the price! It is a perfect dupe and definitely one of my holy grail items.
Step 3: FOUNDATION
My current favourite is the Acne Fighting Foundation by e.l.f. in Buff Beige. I love this product because it has amazing coverage and it’s infused with tea tree oil, witch hazel, and other acne fighting benefits. Oftentimes when I break out, I’m hesitant to cover it up with makeup because it only makes it worse, but with this product, I can cover up my acne while healing it at the same time. I blend everything in with a kabuki brush and I have a flawless matte finish with just one layer. And the best thing about it is it’s price, you can find it for only $6 on their website: http://www.elfcosmetics.com. (You can get it for even cheaper with the many discount codes they offer!)
Step 4: CONCEALER
Next I cover up my under eyes with a tiny dot of concealer and blend it in using e.l.f.’s flawless concealer brush (not pictured). This is a heavy duty high coverage concealer that I recommend only using on the under eye area because I’ve found that it creases everywhere else on oily skin. This isn’t my favourite concealer in the world but it does brighten up and conceal my eye bags well and once again, a little product goes a long way.
Step 5: FACE POWDER
I then seal in all that blending by applying some powder on my face, focusing on the t-zone, nose, under eyes, and chin. Stay Matte is probably the best drugstore face powder for oily skin, and a tip to minimize oil is to use a powder puff to press the powder in your skin rather than fluffing it on with a brush. By doing so, you avoid brushing off the product that’s already on your face, and you create a smoother finish.
Steps 6 & 7: CONTOUR & BLUSH
Next I add some dimension to my face by contouring. I also add some colour back into my cheeks with blush. Using a tapered kabuki brush, I add bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks, the sides of my forehead, along my jawline, and along the sides of my nose, making sure everything is blended completely. Then I take a fluffy brush and apply blush onto the tops of my cheeks. I love this bronzer by Too Faced because it’s matte and smells like chocolate, and this blush by Tarte is my favourite too because the amazonian clay minimizes oil and the shade Magic is perfect for my skin tone.
Step 8: EYEBROWS
Eyebrows Eyebrows Eyebrows. This is probably the most important feature on your face. It doesn’t matter if your eyeliner is on point of if your lipstick is flawless, cause if your eyebrows aren’t on fleek, it can ruin your entire look. Eyebrows can make or break you. In order to shape my brows perfectly, I use a sharp eyebrow pencil and outline them before carefully filling them in and then blending them out with a spoolie. If you want your brows to look more natural, you can try using powder or a combination of powder and pencil as well as different shades.
Step 9: EYESHADOW
Lo and behold, the Naked 3 palette is the probably one of the best beauty purchases I’ve ever made. This palette is so customizable and the colours are absolutely gorgeous and I’m sure you can find a million amazing reviews all over the internet, so I won’t bore you here haha. On a typical day, I’ll simply dust a shade all over my eyelids as a base for my eyeliner. My go-to shades for this are Buzz and Trick. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll blend Limit or Nooner into my crease, and darken my outer corners with Darkside or Blackheart, making sure to blend extremely well.
Step 10: EYELINER
My all time favourite holy grail eyeliner is this one by NYX. I love it’s long lasting wear, it’s super precise application, and bold black colour. I start with drawing a line at the corner of my eyes, winging it out, and then connecting it to the centre of my upper lashline. I colour in the wing and finish it off by connecting it to my inner corners. A straight bold wing is what I usually sport on a typical day, but if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll elongate the wing upwards a bit more.
Step 11: FALSIES
After years of struggling to put on falsies correctly, I believe I have finally mastered the application process! If you’re having trouble, my biggest piece of advice is to practice practice practice! And find what works for you! I use to try copying people in YouTube videos but none of that worked for me and I eventually found my own method that I’ve mastered. Anyways, I wear falsies almost everyday and I’m in love with these natural looking ones by KISS. Although I adore lashes, I try not to wear them for more than 8 hours straight because my eyes are really sensitive and leaving them on for so long sometimes makes them swell up when I take them off. I’m sure removing them properly and cleaning them will decrease the swelling but oh well, the cost of being beautiful right? 😌
Step 12: LIPSTICK
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, LIPSTICK!!! I forgot to take a photo of my own lipstick but here’s one I found online. This is my all time favourite lipstick colour: Verve by M.A.C. It’s a satin finish so I like to wear a lip balm underneath so that it’s not too drying, but it is the most gorgeous colour, especially for the fall/winter season. I wear this all the time and it definitely completes my makeup look!
Alright then, thanks for reading this post and I hope you guys enjoyed it! It’s my first beauty-related post and I can’t wait to see y’all in my next one! 😙
